Les Eisner Awards dévoilent leurs nominés 2024

Les prix qui récompensent la crème de la crème dans l’industrie du comics, les Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards – ou Eisner Awards en abrégé, seront remis en juillet à l’occasion de la prochaine San Diego Comic-Con. Aujourd’hui, les nominés pour l’année 2024 ont été dévoilés.

Quel éditeur a le plus de nominations ?

Image Comics raflent le plus de nominations (17), dont notamment 3 pour le prix de la meilleure nouvelle série (Black Cloak, Local Man et Phantom Road), 2 pour le prix de la meilleure série limitée (The Cull et Kill Your Darlings) et une pour la récente série Transformers de Daniel Warren-Johnson en tant que meilleure série continue.

DC Comics arrivent en deuxième position avec tout de même 13 nominations, dont 4 des 5 dans la catégorie de la meilleure série continue (Birds of Prey, Nightwing, Shazam! et Wonder Woman) ainsi qu’une nomination pour Superman: Lost en tant que meilleure série limitée.

Fantagraphics complètent le podium avec 11 nominations (avec notamment le roman graphique Eden II de K. Wroten) et sont suivis par First Second Books (10 nominations, dont A Guest in the House d’Emily Carroll comme meilleur roman graphique), IDW Publishing (8 nominations, dont Ashes d’Alvaro Ortiz comme meilleur roman graphique) et Drawn & Quarterly (8 nominations également, dont Roaming de Mariko et Jillian Tamaki comme meilleur roman graphique). Pour mettre en perspective, Marvel n’ont obtenu que 5 nominations.

Qui sont les nominés du côté des créateurs ?

James Tynion IV, triple tenant du titre du meilleur auteur, ne pourra pas égaliser le record de Neil Gaiman et gagner le prix pour la quatrième fois consécutive… car celui-ci n’est même pas nominé cette année. Mark Waid et Mariko Tamaki, tous deux nominés dans cette catégorie aux côtés de Stephen Graham Jones, Tom Taylor, Kelly Thompson et G. Willow Wilson, pourraient obtenir leur deuxième prix après l’avoir déjà remporté en 2012 et 2020 respectivement.

Dans la catégorie de la meilleure artiste (intérieur du comics), Sana Takeda pourrait potentiellement remporter le sésame pour la troisième année consécutive. Mariko Tamaki (Roaming), Kelly Thompson (Birds of Prey, The Coll, Black Cloak et It’s Jeff) et Tom Taylor (Nightwing) sont parmi les créateurs les plus nominés.
